Long Teak Tray by Johnny Mattsson
This vintage long teak tray is created by Johnny Mattsson, a Swedish sculptor and craftsman in Gävle. Many of his works are made of demolition wood from old houses that were demolished in the 1950s and 1960s. The tray was designed for Uppsala Slojd, Sweden around 1960.
Scandinavian design started in Nordic countries. It is a design movement characterized by simplicity, minimalism and functionality that emerged in the early 20th century, and which flourished in the 1950s. Swedish design is considered the most outstanding representation of combining minimalist and functionality. This beautiful teak tray was created in Johnny Mattsson shop back in the 1960s. It is still timeless and we can definitely see similar product in modern household.
