Tao Guitar by Serge Michiels & John Joveniaux
“The” Tao Guitar is a modernist, yet timeless by integrating a strong flavour of ancient Asian aesthetics and crafts which connects the name of the guitar and brand. It is designed and built by Serge Michiels and John Joveniaux, a guitar expert and a luthier teamed up to work together creating world-class guitars in Belgium.
The neck is crafted with one piece European quartersawn Maple with selected Rosewood fingerboard. The body of the guitar is Spanish Cedar and Ebony as the bridge with brass saddles. It is a beautiful combination in terms of color and finishes. The work shows sincere tribute to the cultural legacy of Japan’s refined minimalist crafts.
This might the best visual design we have seen in the guitar industry. The minimal shape and the decorative elements that under the influence of traditional Japanese luth are marvellous. Each detail is masterly crafted which shows the dedication and wonderfulness of the craftsmanship and designer’s spirits.
