Tidy by Lizanne Dirkx
Tidy is an upcycled post-bin that made from old wooden furniture. It is designed by Lizanne Dirkx, an industrial ecologist and a product designer who makes new products out of old products in Upstyle Industries, a firm that has the mission to make objects with a positive footprint and combine functionality, aesthetics, environmental benefits and affordability.
Upstyle Industries worked closely with second-hand shops and noticed the large stream of furniture that the shops were forced to trash. Therefore, Lizanne Dirkx and Snijlab, a laser cutting company developed the upcycled post-bin which was laser cut directly from the waste-panels and no extra hardware is required. Each product will have a different combination of panels and finishes, depending on the currently available panels. The unassembled kits are sized so they can be sent by letter-post for low-cost distribution.
Another interesting read from Upstyle Industries is their woodguide.org. An informative website about the environmental considerations of wood and woodworking.
