The Eye See Lamp by Liam Burn
The Eye See Lamp is a decorative ambient lighting built in a wooden frame, designed by Liam Burn, an industrial design student from New Zealand. It was designed through the reinterpretation of the original Eddison lightbulb and a study of the human iris.
The machined pine chassis contains an LED strip and tilt sensor of which illuminates the central laser etched acrylic when rotated. The magnetic back plate allows for replaceable patterns and endless possibilities. Additionally, the lamp is battery powered to ensure portability.
The design is playful. The lighting itself is very minimal and creative. Pinewood is known for its softness and it doesn’t have beautiful wood grains, but the deep cut still shows the pattern of the wood grain contrast between darker lines and lighter surface. It could be a small home decor on a stand or shelve with picture frames.
