A set of Four Treasures of the Study and Buddhist texts by Master Hong Yi, created by Xiling Seal Art Society in China.
This collection has a set of Asian calligraphy tools which are called Four Treasures of the Study in China, an expression used to denote the brush, ink, paper and ink stone used in Chinese and other East Asian calligraphic traditions. The name appears to originate in the time of the Southern and Northern Dynasties.
Buddhist texts were initially passed on orally by monks but were later written down and composed as manuscripts in various Indo-Aryan languages which were then translated into other local languages as Buddhism spread.
Hong Yi a Chinese Buddhist monk, a master painter, musician, dramatist, calligrapher, seal-cutter, and poet. He was one of the founders of Xiling Seal Art Society before he decided to live in the temple.
This collection is to honor the Master Hong Yi. It has minimalistic design and amazing wood finish. The set box and Buddhist texts cover are made from walnut. The brush is made from shiny ebony.
