Social Housing Units by JTB.architecture & MaO architects
Those beautiful social housing units are located in La Courneuve, France. It has wooden exterior walls and contemporary design. The project was a collaboration between two France-based architectural studios, JTB.architecture and MaO architects.
Wood exterior is not often seen for apartment buildings, especially for in the city and near the streets because it might get dusty easily. Moreover, the overall maintenance will be a little harder than bricks and painted walls on a large surface. However, the focus was the spatial layout of new buildings so that the residents appropriate their homes and living environment. Wood exterior looks much better and high-quality living could also mean visually pleased. Thus, a little extra effort on the maintenance is well compromised.
