Storia Konstruktio Bench by Kari Virtanen & Johanna Gullichsen
Storia Konstruktio Bench is one of the pieces in the Nikari Furniture Collection. It has an ultra-clean look because of the geometric shape. It is available in birch, ash and oak, made with traditional Nordic woodworking technic, created by Kari Virtanen & Johanna Gullichsen. The two Finnish designers work with Nikari, a manufacturer of sustainable wood design products of exquisite quality. founded in 1967.
The bench is contemporary and minimalist. It has some Japanese woodworking essence in it like lots of Nordic design. There’s been plenty of historical cross-pollination between the two. Copenhagen Design Museum in Danmark has hosted an exhibition called Learning From Japan recently, which showed documents that how Japan has influenced Danish design since 1870.
Actually, there is a new term called “Japandi” for interior design, which is a hybrid trend that takes the modern flair of Scandinavian design and combines it with the timeless elegance of a Japanese aesthetic.
