Phonograph 2.0 by Christian Haas
Phonograph 2.0 has a simple routed channel through the wood that carries the sound from your phone/iPad to the horn. The horn was found in a gramophone restoration house in Oxnard California and the base was made out of walnut scrap of a rocking chair from the building, created by Hummingbird + Hawk, a Los Angeles based studio use sustainable/up-cycled materials like bamboo plywood, walnut, brass, wool felt to create home decor objects.
The slot is designed to hold most standard tablets and mobile phones. A channel runs internally from the speaker section to the horn. Simply place the device in the slot and the sound is carried to the horn. No electricity needed! The amplified sound adds an amazing “old time” feel to the music and sounds best with Jazz, Blues, and Classical.
The designer added a slight bevels to the base to make lifting/moving easier. The red wool felt bottom helps to protect tabletops and absorbs the sound vibrations. The overall is classic and elegant. The texture and contrast of the materials create superior quality.
