Sprung Lounge Chair by Atelier Maziné
Sprung Lounge Chair is a Nordic style lounge chair made with wood and upholstery fabric. It is designed by Studio Gorm, a design studio founded in 2007 by John Arndt and Wonhee Arndt.
The Sprung Lounge Chair features a wooden base with two different upholstery fabrics as the seat and seat back. The wood lounge chair has a simple shape and clean lines. The upholstery fabric as the main seating area looks neat and comfortable. The wooden legs have original woodgrain which most Scandinavian designs often use. The legs also perfectly mounted and connected with the fabric, making it a seamless piece between different materials.
Studio Gorm focuses on designing products, furniture, lighting, interiors, and exhibitions. They work with a variety of international clients. Their creations are informed by their speculative academic research which explores culture, history and technology and how objects and ideas evolve to fit the needs of modern life.
While working with those functional objects, they have backgrounds in sculpture and craft which strongly informs their work. Their methods are rooted in physical making where objects evolve out of an experimental constructive approach to design. Their products are simple, practical, thoughtful and have approachable forms designed for everyday life.
