House in Matanzas by Cristián Izquierdo Lehmann
House in Matanzas is a vacation house located on the edge of a windy ravine facing the Pacific Ocean in Chile. The project has an interesting wooden structure designed by Cristián Izquierdo Lehmann, a Chile-based architect works in projects of different sizes and programs, public and private since 2010.
Its wooden structure consists of a rigid grid of variable section, which tapers to its ends as its load decreases. Each square hosts a skylight in the middle, whose systematic repetition gives a light similar to an outdoor terrace. The overall design gives a feel between the Scandinavian style and Aegean Sea houses. The circular ceiling with glass allows nature abundant sunlight filling the living room and kitchen. It is a perfect vacation house for enjoying ocean views and weather.
