Mui Wood Plank by mui Lab
mui is a device built with natural wood that serves as a smart home control hub. It has a very calm and minimal design with a piece of wood plank, created by mui Lab, a Japanese start-up, founded by Kaz Oki, Nobu Hirobe and Mark Nomura. They aim to solve one of the biggest issues in today’s society which most of us tend to excessively use our phones at the home.
The wood panel basicly work as a digital touch screen and speaker assistant to send message, check weather and news with a minimal interface. Moreover, it can connect and control devices like lighting, thermostats, and even smart devices like google home and Amazon Echo.
Designers chose wood as a the final material for mui is because electronic smart devices have been making our homes feel cold and sterile. Therefore, a piece of beautiful Sycamore, Cherry, Maple or Ash can blend in with the room’s décor and furniture to create a peaceful, warm and relaxing space instead.
The design was shown during the CES 2019, world’s gathering place for all those who thrive on the business of consumer technologies and will be officially launch into the market around September 2019.
