A Long House by LifeStyle Koubou
A Long House is a modern renovation of a 36 -year old premises with a tiled roof which survived the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, located in Soma City, Fukushima. It is designed by Life Style Koubou, an architectural design studio focus on the lifestyle interacting with nature and achieving the ideas loved by the community and the people who live in the premises.
The wooden interior enables high-quality texture, serenity, and comfort. The architect kept the traditional Japanese housing style, which is called Tatami, they all have mat flooring, sliding doors, and wooden engawa verandas. It has a small talk session with tea and tobacco by the terrace because there is hardly any snow in Minamisoma.
Japanese housing has always used wood as the main elements. It is great to see when traditional structure meets with high-quality modern interior design.
